Do not use Silenor if you are also using monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), have untreated narrow-angle glaucoma, severe urinary retention, or are allergic to doxepin or other ingredients in Silenor. Contraindications are medical reasons why a medication should not be used, as it could be unsafe in these situations.
