Anafranil SR should not be used if you have hypersensitivity to clomipramine or related TCAs, are taking MAO inhibitors or within 21 days of MAO inhibitor treatment (including moclobemide), have had a recent myocardial infarction, cardiac arrhythmias, congenital long QTc syndrome, narrow-angle glaucoma, acute urinary retention, severe hepatic disease, or are using certain antiarrhythmics like quinidine or propafenone (potent CYP2D6 inhibitors). Knowing contraindications helps you and your doctor avoid life-threatening complications.
