Bempedoic acid primarily lowers LDL cholesterol but has also been shown to modestly reduce lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels. Clinical studies suggest that bempedoic acid can lower Lp(a) by approximately 5–10%. However, the effect on Lp(a) is generally less pronounced than its effect on LDL cholesterol.
