While taking dextromethorphan, avoid consuming alcohol and other central nervous system depressants, as they can increase drowsiness and side effects. Do not take it with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping them, as this can cause serious, potentially life-threatening reactions. Also, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you feel drowsy or dizzy.
