Paromomycin is an antibiotic used to treat certain intestinal infections caused by parasites, such as amebiasis and giardiasis. It is also used to treat and control hepatic encephalopathy and some types of tapeworm infections. Additionally, paromomycin can be used as part of the treatment for leishmaniasis.
