Both losartan and lisinopril are generally safe medications used to treat high blood pressure, but they have different side effect profiles. Lisinopril, an ACE inhibitor, is more likely to cause a persistent dry cough and, rarely, angioedema (swelling). Losartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), tends to have fewer side effects and is often considered safer for people who experience side effects from ACE inhibitors.
