Marplan should not be used by people with pheochromocytoma, severe heart disease, liver disease, or known hypersensitivity to isocarboxazid. It’s also contraindicated with other MAOIs, dextromethorphan, meperidine, and certain sympathomimetic drugs. Avoiding these situations prevents life-threatening reactions and interactions.
